Methodology

How we calculate channel value, revenue, and sponsorship rates.

Data source

All channel statistics (subscriber count, total view count, video count, and creation date) are fetched from the YouTube Data API v3 using only publicly available data. No private analytics are accessed. Data is cached for 7 days and refreshed on the next request after expiry.

Niche detection & RPM

We infer the channel's content niche from keywords in the channel title and description, then assign a RPM range (Revenue Per Mille — earnings per 1,000 views after YouTube's 45% cut).

Niche Keywords RPM range
Finance finance, investing, stock, crypto, money, wealth $12–$22
Tech tech, technology, gadget, software, coding, developer $8–$14
Science science, physics, chemistry, biology, space, education $6–$12
Gaming gaming, game, gameplay, esports, twitch, xbox, ps5 $2–$5
Entertainment vlog, challenge, prank, reaction, funny $2–$5
Default $3–$7

Monthly view estimate

We divide the channel's lifetime view count by its age in months to get an average:

channel_age_months = MAX(1, months_since(published_at))
avg_monthly_views  = total_view_count / channel_age_months

Monthly & annual revenue

We apply the midpoint of the niche RPM range to the estimated monthly views:

rpm_mid          = (rpm_min + rpm_max) / 2
monthly_revenue  = (avg_monthly_views / 1,000) × rpm_mid
annual_revenue   = monthly_revenue × 12

Channel value

Channel value is modelled as a multiple of annual revenue, following typical content creator acquisition multiples used in the creator economy:

estimated_value_min = annual_revenue × 2
estimated_value_max = annual_revenue × 3

Revenue per video

videos_per_month  = MAX(1, video_count / channel_age_months)
revenue_per_video = monthly_revenue / videos_per_month

Sponsorship rates

Estimated based on subscriber count tiers, derived from publicly reported industry data:

Subscribers Integration / 30s Dedicated video
< 100K$500–$1,500$1,500–$4,000
100K–500K$2,000–$8,000$6,000–$20,000
500K–2M$8,000–$25,000$20,000–$60,000
2M–10M$25,000–$75,000$60,000–$160,000
> 10M$75,000–$200,000$160,000–$500,000

Performance scores (0–100)

Audience Quality

Views per subscriber, capped at 100. Measures how engaged the subscriber base is — a higher score means subscribers watch more content on average.

Channel Growth

Average subscriber gain per month benchmarked against milestone thresholds (from 50 subs/month to 500K+ subs/month), scored 10–100.

Monetization Potential

Weighted composite: niche RPM score (40%) + subscriber tier (40%) + upload frequency (20%).

Limitations

  • Monthly views are estimated from lifetime totals — recent growth or decline is not captured
  • RPM varies by audience geography, seasonality, and individual ad deals
  • Sponsorship rates depend heavily on niche, engagement, and negotiation
  • Off-platform income (merchandise, memberships, courses) is not included
  • All results are estimates for informational purposes only
